Business Central Avalara Recent Changs

Have you recently updated to Avalara version 28.0.36.5 and now you’re all systems down?

Don’t worry I have the easy fix for you!

How to fix:

First inside of BC, which if you have multiple companies you may need to do this several times. Go to the Avalara Configuration page. Select Connect to Production if this is a production environment, or Connect to Sandbox.

Then it will take you to a login page for Avalara, login.

After that, you will get a pop up to Allow. Select Yes, Allow

Back in BC you should now see Verify, select that.

After that you should see the Avalara Company Name populate. If the Avalara company name is wrong, inside of Avalara on the Integration tab, select the correct company name. You may also want to double check your setting in the Integration tab just to ensure nothing changed or like Enable asynchronous Avalara posting has been turned on. This should be Off, this tells Avalara don’t commit invoices which is the exact opposite of something you want.

This is Avalara’s new way of connecting BC over using API keys, F&O and GP are now the same, and NetSuite also has something similar. There’s also some new features, like turning off prepayment invoices or service module. However, it seems that this update is being forced to reconnect when upgraded.
